MyTouch 4G media roundup [From the Forums]

A new device usually means a new leak of the ROM, which means new media to put on our devices!  The new HTC Sense UI means most of the goodies don't ship with the device, instead you download pre-built themes from HTC.  Thankfully T-Mobile has provided us with three pre-installed theme bundles, and we sucked out anything and everything we could.  Check the links below, and if you're not getting the myTouch 4G, maybe your current phone can look like one.

Netflix on Wii drops the clunky disc requirement, starts streaming through Wii Menu

It's not just the PS3 that will be doing its Netflix streaming disc-free from today: the Wii is joining in the fun as well! Americans and Canadians alike will be able to download and install Netflix from the Wii Shop Channel, provided they've signed up for a subscription of $8.99 (C$7.99 in Canada) or above. Notably, over three million Wii consoles are said to have been hooked up with Netflix since the service launched back in April, and this step should make that number grow even larger. Only question is what we're all going to do with those three million redundant discs now. We can't turn them all into coasters, any ideas?

The FCC changes the CableCARD rules, but not dramatically

The long awaited rule changes pertaining to CableCARDs that was originally proposed in the FCC's Broadband Plan finally got some resolve today, we have to say we're not convinced things will get that much better. While the FCC failed to kill Tuning Adapters or make the CableLabs certification process any less painful, it did make some changes, which include:

• CableCARD fees have to be the same for everyone, no matter which package you have.
• If your cable company allows any self installs, they must allow CableCARD self-installs.
• Cable companies must support SDV for CableCARD users -- this was implied before, now it is black and white.
• By default, all new deployments must be M-Cards (unless you actually request a S-Card).
• Cable companies can include an IP interface in set-top-boxes leui of a 1394 port.
• One way HD boxes without CableCARDs are no longer forbidden and they don't require IP interfaces.
